The sequencing of PCR amplification products, termed “amplicons”, is a strongly focused approach to investigate region(s) of special interest without the need to design and validate a gene panel. Sequencing costs are minimal, while sequencing depth can be spectacular.

This approach is highly suitable for the validation of limited numbers of genes in large cohorts or sample groups.

In addition, plasmids, BACs and other large DNA constructs can be sequenced and the sequences assembled to verify their actual sequence and structural composition.
